A Gallery Comes Together

It took Carol and I two days to drive down from North Vancouver with 10 sculptures in the car. We took the I5 practically all the way.

When we arrived on eve of the 4th of November the gallery was still sitting totally empty. The workmen had just finisshed painting the floors which had to cure overnight. We unloaded the sculpture and booked ourselves into the Best Western for a nice soak in the salt water hot tub and pool.

Going back to the gallery the next morning - the workmen were back at it finishing up the trim. It was a very tight schedule because the Gallery had committed to opening for the Art Walk at 5pm on the 5th of November. Heres what the Gallery looked like at 2 pm.

Frieze of the Arts - Poet Reborn

The Summerland Art Gallery's Frieze was vandalized not that long ago. I have resculpted a new figure to take the place of the one that had the head removed. It's an entirely new piece that will be installed by the 25th of July. This is a sneak preview before the final mounting of the work.

Wine Tasting and HGTV

A couple of months ago HGTV's tv program "The Stagers" used one of my sculptures in the program "Dazzling the Designer". They actually did some nice close-ups of the work. Life in a Time of Joy has become a TV Celebrity!

Last week Carol, Angel and I stopped in at the Sonoran Estate Winery. I was considering placing some of my work there for the BC wide Cultural Crawl that's going to run from July 25th to August 29th. We decided to tast some of the wines while we were there. I have to say that I was very very pleasantly surprised. This little winery can make some WINE! As it was still early in the season most of what they had on hand were the the whites and lighter reds. All I can say is that we left with five bottles of wine that we know we are thoroughly going to enjoy this summer. This winery is a must for tasting this year if you are in the neighborhood!
